What Is A Canker Sore And What Causes Them
A canker sore is a small ulcer that develops on your tongue, gums, or inside your cheeks. There are many causes for these mouth ulcers and some people experience them frequently. Some patients with frequent canker sores have found relief by using alum for canker sores. Alum for canker sores is an edible white powder that has been used to heal mouth irritations since ancient times. It is believed to work by reducing inflammation in your mouth caused by infections like colds and flu. While it isn’t proven to work by treating these infections directly, alum has been shown to speed up wound healing time when applied topically as an antiseptic.
When applied directly to canker sores, alum helps reduce pain and irritation while promoting faster healing. The best way to use alum for canker sores is to dissolve one teaspoon of alum into two cups of warm water. Then you simply gargle with the solution three times per day until your canker sore heals completely. This treatment works best if you apply it after brushing your teeth at night before bedtime so that you don’t accidentally swallow any of it! 3 Effective Methods To Stop Them From Coming Back
While you can choose to live with canker sores and treat them with a home remedy like those mentioned above, there is another option that can prevent new sores from appearing on your tongue. This option is using a natural compound called alum which has been shown to be highly effective in reducing or even eliminating canker sore outbreaks. Alum works as an astringent which helps your body heal itself, preventing any sores from forming.
Keep in mind that alum will only eliminate existing sores – it cannot prevent future outbreaks if you are susceptible to developing more over time. That said, alum for canker sores is one of my favorite methods for getting rid of these annoying mouth ulcers! Here’s how alum for canker sores works: To use alum for canker sores, simply dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of alum powder into a glass of water. Next, swish around your mouth with this solution every night before bedtime. You should notice results within 3-5 days (some people experience relief within just 24 hours). Continue using alum nightly until all signs of canker sores have disappeared completely. Then, continue taking it once per week to ensure no further outbreaks occur.
